Refurbishing Town House

The town house has original terracotta floor tiles in the bedrooms. The tiles in the main bedroom are red, but they were very dirty. Being careful not to damage the surface of the tiles, they were carefully cleaned and restored to their former glory.

The other bedroom was a bigger problem, unfortunately someone had painted them with several coats of mustard coloured paint. Several methods were used to try to remove the paint, including chemical paint strippers, sanders and swearing. The paint was deeply engraved in many of the tiles. So as not to damage the beautiful stone tiles, it was decided to leave speckles of paint. The final result is tiles with a hint of gold embedded in the tiles which complimented the final decor.

The heart of the house is still to be renovated, we will upload photos of the bathroom and downstairs soon.

Most of the plaster needed replacing.
